Rocio was looking for a roommate while living in King of Prussia Pennsylvania in 2001. Her first roommate interview happened to be David who was #1 on a list of 70 applicants. After their meeting, David convinced Rocio not to continue interviewing the rest of the applicants, and moved in. One week later, Rocio was in the hospital having major surgery. David took care of her, cooked, and cleaned, and they fell in love.
Since Rocio moved to America from Colombia, South America she had lived in Rhode Island, graduated from the University of Rhode Island, and spent her summers in Newport. David and his family were avid sailors and though David and Rocio live and work in Pennsylvania, Rhode Island seemed like the perfect place for their wedding. As collectors of antiques and retro clothing and art, Rocio and David decided to choose the Glen Manor House to host the event, as they say they “wanted a vintage inspired wedding with a Latin passion”. The Glen’s water view sealed the deal.

Rocio wore a gorgeous Vera Wang gown and her beautiful baubles were vintage Lawrence Vrba Jewelry. She wore a Latin inspired Mantilla Veil to complete her look. On her bouquet, designed by Fancy Tomato Wedding and Event Design, she clipped a sterling silver locket with photos in memory of David’s father and both of their grandmothers. Rocio, whose nickname is "Lily", and the bridesmaids carried white Calla Lilies. The bridesmaids wore Teal dresses by Lazarro and the men wore black tuxedos.

A violinist and a vocalist provided all of the music for the outdoor ceremony. A special song, Somewhere Over the Rainbow, was performed in memory of family members who could not be there with them. To signify their union, a Sand Ceremony was performed to the song, "Ave Maria".

Thinking back on the most memorable parts of the day, family and togetherness reigned supreme. Rocio had not seen her father and his family for 15 years prior to the wedding, and they were all together to witness this special day. At the exact moment the officiant mentioned David’s late father during the ceremony, a sailboat glided by, which moved the couple to tears. Dancing together for the first time as husband and wife with their family and friends watching was surely a highlight of the day as well.

Platinum and Purple colors for the reception were reflected with beautiful linens and floral design by Fancy Tomato. Silver vessels containing abundant hydrangea were the centerpieces, and purple hydrangea also adorned the lavish wedding cake by Sin Desserts. The cocktail tables were dressed in purple satin and tied with a large platinum bow.

To reflect more of the Latin culture, Glorious Affairs Catering included Avocado, Mango, and Plantain in the cuisine. Dessert was the wedding carrot cake and was paired with mini cones of mango sorbet.

The collaboration on all of the event details was a fun experience for the couple. They both enjoyed all of the emotions as every vendor and was selected, and watching it all come together was “spectacular”.
Incorporating their love for each other, their families, and their culture made Rocio and David’s wedding truly personal and unique. Each guest left the wedding with an evergreen seedling, so guests could watch their trees grow as Rocio and David watch their love grow and flourish.

Congratulations Rocio and David!
