Katherine and Scott met as college students. Both members of the University of Rhode Island Rowing Team, they met at a friend’s party, and after 3 tries, Katherine finally accepted Scott’s invitation for a date. I guess third time is a charm after all! During a family trip to Ireland the couple realized they were meant to be. They wanted an intimate wedding with the glamour of a mansion, and the Glen Manor was the perfect place for the late April event.

Katherine works for the Hyatt Regency Newport, and sees her fair share of weddings every year. Editing down all of the ideas to what she felt was the best of the best and displayed her and Scott’s personalities was a tough job, but after coming up with a Springtime in New England theme, the details fell into place. Handmade birds nests served as escort cards for the day, and pink springtime blooms from Broadway Florist of Newport added to the vibe. Sage green linens paired with flowering branches and earthy tones created an enchanted springtime feel.

The bridesmaids wore blush pink dresses from J. Crew and the men wore tan colored tuxedos. Katherine’s dress was Casablanca. Those gorgeous bee earrings! They were designed by her aunt, and custom made in Italy! Love that little detail! All of the hair and makeup for the bridal party was done at the Stillwater Spa at the Hyatt.

Other details included a nod to the couple’s love of rowing. Guests signed an oar with brightly colored pens, and it is now hung above the mantle of their first home! Table numbers were created from photos of sailboats, made elegant by placing them in gilded frames.

Transportation was provided by Viking Tours. Katherine states, “ I cannot tell you how many times I have had friends and family tell us that arriving the Glen Manor in the trolley added a fun element to our day!”

Katherine is a big fan of cooking shows, and picking a menu was one of the highlights of the planning process. They chose to use the Hyatt's catering team, and chose menu items such as Filet Mignon and Lobster Tail as well as a Raw Bar for cocktail hour. The beautiful cake was designed by Scrumptions in East Greenwich, and tied in the green and pink colors perfectly.

Katherine told me, “The vendors we worked with were fantastic and people I truly trust”. Choosing people who understand your vision and you trust to make your dream wedding a reality is extremely important.

Congratulations Scott and Katherine, and Happy Anniversary!
