Engagement Photo Sessions can be a blast! Just you, your fiance, and your super fabulous photographer!

Doing an engagement session can be a great way to get to know your photographer, especially if you are from out town. Jill Person, of Person and Killian Photography, states that "we really encourage all of our couples to come in for an engagement shoot. It eases the nerves for those who are not necessarily comfortable in front of the camera and allows them to see how we shoot and interact. This way there is one less thing for the couple to be thinking about on the wedding day."

Wearing bright and bold colors really helps your photos POP! Kristin Spencer of Kristin Spencer Photography states something to keep in mind is to wear "Fun & flirty outfits and accessories! It's your time to dress up and look FAB so wear something that makes you feel incredible. But remember to let your fiance wear what he wants!! If you make him wear khakis and he feels stuffy,he won't relax in pics and we want the boys to have fun too, so make sure they are able to be themselves!"

Chatty Bride HJT had a blast at the Carnival during her engagement session. But, as, Kristin states, "Carnivals aren't for everyone. Parks, downtown settings, beaches, etc, they all make great backdrops you just have to know what you like so browse images to get the right
look for YOU!"

Urban funky backgrounds, somewhere sweet and romantic, or a place that totally captures your personality are popular for engagement shoots. Maria Panaggio-Phillips of Brian Phillips Photography agrees, "Although parks and beaches are great, engagement photos should be fun and allow a couple's personality to shine through".

This couple went Bowling on their first date, so holding the engagement session at a Bowling Alley was a no brainer!

Brian and Maria love engagement sessions so much that they decided to do one themselves, their 'anniversary session' was captured by Margaret Singer. Showing clients how to rock it out with funky outfits and bright backdrops!

Engagement Sessions are a great way for your photographer to get to know you as well. Your best angles, your style, your personalities. But they are just as much about having a great time for the photographer as they are for you! Kristin Spencer states, "They are pretty much mini fashion shoots to me and I just love that there are no rules, no restrictions, no limits...we can just play and be ourselves - all of us! - while capturing some REALLY FUN imagery!"

Jill Person also loves engagement sessions since it gives you a chance to get to know each other. She says, "A lot of the time we do not meet both members of the couple in the initial consultation and often book clients over the phone from NY etc. The shoot really gives us a chance to spend some time with the couple."

Looking back on it, I wish I had done an engagement session! What do you Chatties think? Are you doing Engagement sessions? Where are you doing them? What are you Wearing?
