Makeup anyone??

I need help fast! I need to find a makeup artist that charges around 150 for bride makeup.
Mine backed out and I cannot afford the other artist that was recommended!
UGH!
I want dramatic eyes and false lashes, anyone out there know of one near Newport?

Fashion Friday!

It's no secret that Polka Dots are adorable! I'm head-over-Jimmy Choos for this gorgeous dress created by Michelle and Henry Roth. It's whimsical, flattering, and has just a tid bit of retro flair. I'm totally having dress envy. If you don't think your fiance will find it, post a link to your dress!!!

My Glass Slipper

It took me what seemed like forever to pick out shoes for the wedding. I absolutely drove myself crazy. All along I knew I wanted some a little snazzy - but couldn't see myself spending a lot of money on a pair of shoes I'd just get one wear out of. I have a major shoe thing - so once laid eyes on these, I knew I had to have them. And they'll look super cute with a simple dress at another occasion!

2 Days! My Dress!!

OK, so I waited to post anything on my dress because I didn't want my FH to randomly somehow come across this post. My dress is Pronovias Georgia! I absolutely love it! It is in a light ivory (antique white or creme). As I said before it has like a 12 foot train. It's longer then the standard cathedral length train! Buttons all down the back and its satin. It's simple just like me and it matches my pearls that my grandmother gave me which is what I wanted. Below are some pictures of me when I first bought it over a year ago. The veil is similar to the one that I got with the dress but I had to have it custom made because I wanted it to extend further then the train did. I got it at Madeleine's Daughter in Portsmouth NH! They were wonderful there! I got great service! The people there were awesome to work with!

Something Blue..

So of all the things that I'm having a hard time deciding on, it's my "Something Blue" that is ABSOLUTELY KILLING ME!!!

I decided a LONG time ago that I wanted blue shoes. I know that this is a trend that may have already peaked, but I still want it! The problem I'm having however, is that my wedding ceremony and a good majority of the fun stuff, will all be outside on grass. And with my date being May 1st 2011, there's a Really good chance that the ground will be a bit squishy.

So comes my dilemma: Why are there no cute blue wedge heels in this world? Why hasn't some fantastic (yet affordable) designer had a lightbulb flash above their head, and think "huh, brides wear blue shoes, and weddings are fairly often held outdoors, EUREKA!"

So possible solutions thus far have presented themselves through One pair of potential shoes. Hours of online shopping, and I have found ONE PAIR!!! And of course that one pair is about $70, which is, to be frank, about $30 more than my most expensive shoes ever.

This is the part where I let out a huge sigh.

So my fellow brides, my question for you is: What have you done to solve the squishy ground blue pretty heels dilemma? Also, I have heard that there is a product out there that you slip onto a pair of stilettos and it widens the base of the heel, does anyone have experience with this gadget? Does it work at all, and how noticeable is it?

Thanks in advance!

Here Comes The Bride......

After having my baby boy in January I was not in the spirit of trying on wedding dresses, given the extra pounds gained during pregnancy. To eliminate the horror of trying on gowns I decided to have my gown made-plus I love so many parts of different gowns I knew there would be no way I could walk into a store and say “this is the one”. I want something very glamorous and bridal yet with a little something different that you cannot get off the rack!

Luckily I have known a wonderful woman who is a designer and specializes in wedding gowns since I was born! We have been working since February on the design and the “mock” dress is in the works! She begins by creating a faux dress out of lightweight cotton for sizing and to get the silhouette down that I want. I am going for white or maybe off white satin with fun beading on top and more of a streamlined bottom ( with a sash or some sort of accent up top).

Here are the gowns I adore that will be pieced together for my complete look! …that is if I don’t continue to change my mind..with a custom dress it’s so fun to change the lines and really create your perfect shape!

Boudior Pics

Back in April I had some Boudior Pictures taken. First off, I was very out of my element. I never imagined myself doing something like this, but I thought if there was anytime to do it now would be the time! So I built up my courage made the apt and had it done! I had the time of my life! It was fun and amazing experience. Catharine Morris (Caty) Photography took the pictures. Caty was wonderful! She made you feel relaxed in what could be an uncomfortable environment. Here a few of the appropriate pictures to post. I highly recommend doing it, if you ever in a small way considered it. I think I'm going to give it to him as a gift for his birthday in May. Traditionally you give each other wedding gifts but thats done at the rehearsal dinner so I didn't think that would be an appropriate time to do it. Below are a few teasers :-)

Found: Dresses

So in my previous post I mentioned that I was narrowing down the search, and that I was pretty sure I had finally found what I was looking for. Most of the salons I went into, when I told them I was looking for strapless, with a dropped waist, horizontal ruching, symmetrical waistline and something flowy on the bottom, they pretty much laughed.
When I called Sposabella in Hyannis, she was absolutely sure she had something that would work. Upon first glance, I'm not gonna lie, I was not that impressed. On the hanger, it just looked like it wouldn't be flattering at ALL. At 800$ it was at the absolute top of my budget, and I was skeptical, picking out about 9 other samples that looked promising, most looked even more promising than this simple flouncy gown.
I spent about an hour and a half going through Tons of styles, similar to all the other salon experiences I had had. To top it off, a few of the dresses I was Most excited about I couldn't fit into, making the whole thing kind of a downer. When it came time to try on what soon became, The Dress, I was none too excited, and was ready to get home.

Something Old, Something New?

Are you a woman of tradition? Do you have all your somethings ready to go? I honestly, for maybe the reason that I'm more superstitious than traditional, thought I was going to have my somethings in a row. Old. New. Borrowed. Blue...well, let's just say on the big day I was more worried about our guests getting soaked in the imminent rainstorm than what I was going to borrow.

I just wanted to share some ideas for the old, new, borrowed, and blue and see what you readers are doing in this department!

Something Old. Maybe it's mom's dress. Sentimental + Vintage = Fab. Doesn't fit or is just too not you? Have it redesigned like this bride!
